There is a frightening lack of female business coaches and leaders worldwide.
In fact, research shows that only 29% of senior managers around the globe are women. Furthermore, this marks the highest recorded number of females in senior management positions ever.
That’s right. Ever.
So, why is it that in 2022 there is still such a big gap between male and female leaders? Do men simply possess better suitability for leadership positions?
Of course not.
Women ideally suit leadership roles.
In fact, studies have shown that when there is a 10% increase of women hired into leadership roles within a workplace, profits increased by 3.5%.
Studies have shown that when there is a 10% increase of women hired into leadership roles within a workplace, profits increased by 3.5%. #femaleleaders #womeninbusiness Click To TweetWomen in leadership and Coaching Roles produce better results, but why?
The answer is actually quite simple…
1. Women Work Better Under Pressure
Women perform better in a crisis. The pandemic has shown us this time and time again.
Colleagues rated women significantly higher than men in all areas of leadership effectiveness in a study conducted in 2020. Shortly before the pandemic. The study comprised 454 male and 366 female leaders.
The study was re-done during the pandemic and this number has almost doubled in favour of female leaders – with men scoring 51.5% and women scoring a higher 57.2% out of 100.
Women tend to be more empathetic and compassionate compared to men, primarily due to differences in upbringing.
Girls are to be raised differently to boys, and this is something we see frequently in various countries and cultures.
Women are raised to uphold different values to men. They are expected to fit into different stereotypes. We are taught to be soft-spoken and gentle. Nurturing homemakers and in certain cultures. Women are even discouraged or prohibited from receiving a higher education.
2. Women are More Nurturing
Without female leaders and coaches, who will younger women look up to for inspiration?
Research has found that women who are under twenty-five rate themselves significantly lower in overall leadership effectiveness. However, when women reach their forties they tend to rate themselves much higher overall – indicating that their confidence in themselves increases over time and with life experience.
But if there were more opportunities for young women to become leaders, would this statistic change?
For most people, being different is scary. It’s much easier to keep to the status quo.
Which is exactly why we need more women to take up leadership roles. With a supportive network of sisters, everything seems far less scary, and with their encouragement, young women will thrive.
When more women step into leadership and coaching roles, they are paving the way for other women to grow and step into these roles as well.

As a female leader or coach – you will become the role model that you wanted when you were younger – and be able to help other young women in this same way.
